One of the advantages to a Winter engagement session is that you will have the entire beach to yourselves.
Amanda and Mike chose Sunset Beach on Shelter Island for their engagement session location because that is where he proposed marriage.
Returning to this sentimental spot held special meaning and significance to them.
I always recommend that a couple chose a meaningful location for their engagement session.
With a little bit of snow on the ground they bundled up and braved the cold - snuggling on the dock.
If we had done this session in the summer the beach would have been very crowded- understandably so. And most couples prefer and appreciate the privacy during an engagement portrait session...as it can feel uncomfortable having strangers watch or distracting having them walk into the frame etc.
Winter engagement sessions have a special beauty and tranquility to them and Shelter Island is a magical place all year long no matter what the season is.
